World Bicycle DayLudhiana: More than 200 cyclists participated in a bicycle rally at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Sunday to commemorate World Bicycle Day. Organised by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare alongside the PAU Pedal Club, the event aimed to promote sustainable lifestyles and fitness across the campus community.The rally was officially flagged off by PAU registrar Dr Rishi Pal Singh, who encouraged participants to adopt cycling as a regular habit. To demonstrate their commitment to the cause, top university officials rode alongside the participants and completed the entire route.Vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal stated that the rally was aimed to “promote health and encouraged the university community to continue making cycling a way of life.”Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Dr Singh detailed numerous benefits of cycling, including improved cardiovascular health, better mental well-being, reduced environmental pollution, and the promotion of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.Director of students’ welfare Dr Kamaljeet Singh Suri added, “It is important to encourage environmentally friendly habits and active lifestyles among the university community.”Organisers stated that the enthusiastic turnout highlighted the academic community’s strong commitment to driving positive social change toward environmental and personal wellness.
