What began as a quiet day for a family in Karnataka ended in a blood-soaked tragedy after an 18-year-old allegedly stabbed his parents and sister, leaving two dead and another fighting for life. Police are probing whether online gaming addiction played a role in the shocking attack.

The incident took place in Karnataka’s Koppal district, where Sai Naidu, 18, is accused of attacking his father Yankanna Naidu, 48, mother Soujanya and sister Pragati, 20, with a knife before allegedly turning the weapon on himself.

FATHER, SISTER DIE

According to police, Pragati died on the spot following the attack.

The injured family members were rushed to hospital, but Yankanna Naidu later succumbed to his injuries at Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) Hospital.

Soujanya remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

ACCUSED TEEN UNDER TREATMENT

Sai Naidu also sustained serious injuries after allegedly stabbing himself. He is receiving treatment at BIMS Hospital in Ballari.

Police from Koppal district visited the hospital and have begun questioning him as part of the investigation.

ONLINE GAMING ANGLE UNDER SCANNER

Gangavathi police inspected the crime scene and have launched a probe into the circumstances that led to the attack.

Preliminary information suggests that the teenager was addicted to online gaming. However, investigators are continuing to examine the case and have not yet confirmed whether the alleged addiction was the direct motive behind the attack.

Police are working to piece together the sequence of events that culminated in the deadly assault, even as the mother remains hospitalised in critical condition.
