Officials told to expand reach of CM’s internship scheme

Patna: The state education department on Wednesday directed officials to step up efforts to connect more youth with the chief minister’s Pratigya Yojana, an internship programme aimed at enhancing employability and skill development among people aged 18 to 28 years.At a review meeting held at Vikas Bhawan, directors of all directorates under the department were briefed on the scheme and asked to ensure wider outreach and effective implementation. The meeting also stressed coordination between the education department and the department of youth, employment and skill development to maximise enrolment.Under the scheme, eligible youth are provided internship opportunities in government, non-government and private institutions and receive a monthly stipend through direct benefit transfer (DBT).Officials said interns placed within Bihar receive a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000, while those undertaking internships outside the state are eligible for Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,000 per month.The meeting reviewed the scheme’s objectives, features and implementation roadmap. Officials were asked to actively promote the programme and facilitate participation so that more young people can gain workplace exposure, develop professional skills and improve their employment prospects.The Pratigya Yojana is aimed at providing practical work experience to youth and bridging the gap between education and employment.
