Odisha CM terms anti-paper leak Bill historic

Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday termed the introduction of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in Lok Sabha as a historic and decisive step towards safeguarding the future of India’s youth.Stating that the same reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering resolve to protect merit and uphold the highest standards of integrity in India’s examination system, Majhi wrote on X, “With fines of up to ₹10 crore, imprisonment of up to 10 years and fast-track trials to ensure the disposal of cases within three months, the proposed provisions establish an uncompromising framework against paper leaks, organised cheating networks and examination malpractice.BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty, however, said merely making stringent laws won’t be enough. “There is an urgent need to implement them sincerely and take exemplary action against those responsible,” Mohanty said.
