Pune: A group of 30 cadets of the Maharashtra Directorate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) concluded its first-ever cyber defender course.Conducted in partnership with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, “The course was designed to provide cadets with hands-on exposure to the evolving cyber security landscape, enabling them to understand vulnerabilities in digital systems, strengthen network security and develop the capability to respond to cyber incidents. The curriculum also covered cyber resilience and digital forensics, helping cadets understand how cyber attacks are investigated and mitigated,” said a senior NCC officer.NCC’s training approach has undergone a shift as it introduces cyber security education alongside its traditional military and leadership programmes. “As cyber threats continue to evolve, developing a skilled pool of young cyber defenders is increasingly viewed as a strategic necessity. This complements our ongoing initiative’s in drone training and disaster management” added the officer.“The programme seeks to enhance career opportunities for cadets by exposing them to high-demand skills in cyber security, ethical hacking and digital investigations. It is expected to be valuable for careers in the armed forces, government agencies and also in the private technology sector, where demand for cyber security professionals continues to grow” added another officer on condition of anonymity.
