Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Nagpur Skill Centre at Pardi on Sunday, July 26, in a bid to create a skilled workforce aligned with the requirements of industries across Vidarbha.Announcing the inauguration at a press conference on Friday, Association for Industrial Development (AID) president Ashish Kale said the centre has been established over a 1.25-acre campus through a joint initiative of AID, Tata STRIVE, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Skill India and Vidarbha Global Foundation.The centre will provide free, employment-oriented training to nearly 2,000 youth every year. Candidates who have passed Class 10 can enrol in courses such as solar PV installer (Suryamitra), assistant electrician and food and beverage service. Class 12 pass-outs and graduates can opt for programmes including front office associate, UI/UX designer and business development executive.Although the formal inauguration will take place on Sunday, the centre has already trained 90 candidates, Kale said.Besides classroom instruction, several courses will include on-the-job training, computer education and spoken English classes. The general duty assistant programme is open to candidates aged 20 to 45 years, while applicants for other courses must be between 18 and 35 years of age.AID secretary Vijay Kumar Sharma, office-bearers Sanjay Gupta, Ashok Goyal, Vinod Tambi, Mahesh Sadhwani, chief executive officer Kapil Chandrayaan and executive secretary Pankaj Bhokare were present at the press conference.
