M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) in association with the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) recently launched a community programme to empower 2,000 farmers and women’s self-help group members with digital literacy skills in Pudukottai district.
The programme will be led by 15 key resource persons who will work with 50 master trainers and 100 volunteers. It will be conducted from June to November.
“We have noticed that though many agri-tech applications and online resources are available to farmers and women’s self-help groups, they lack basic literacy to utilise them. We are hoping to upgrade their skill set through the programme to improve their economic growth. The programme is open to people aged 18-50,” R. Rajkumar, principal scientist, MSSRF, Pudukottai, told The Hindu.
Manju Thakur, crop health advisor, CABI, and poet M. Geetha, were present at the June 9 inauguration programme.
