Month-long enrolment drive for Mizoram SIR to end on June 28

Aizawl: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for 2026, which officially started across Mizoram on Saturday, is expected to be in full swing from Monday, official sources said.According to a statement from the office of the state chief electoral officer (CEO), booth level officers (BLOs) in some districts have initiated comprehensive house-to-house visits within their respective polling areas. The month-long door-to-door verification and enrolment drive will conclude on June 28.During the visits, the BLOs are distributing two copies of the enumeration form to each registered voter to facilitate the drafting of the new electoral roll. Voters will keep one copy of the form for their records, while the second filled-out form will be collected by the BLOs, officials said. To ensure a smooth process, BLOs have been tasked to help voters accurately fill out the forms.For the first time, the Election Commission of India is implementing online application submission for the SIR. After collecting the completed forms, BLOs will upload voters’ details directly into the online database using the designated BLO mobile application.Currently, the total number of registered voters in Mizoram’s electoral roll for 2025 stands at 8,75,068. The electorate includes 4,51,671 female voters and 4,23,397 male voters. The ongoing intensive revision is expected to update and reflect the most accurate electoral demographic of the state, the statement said.State election officials said BLOs in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai and Lunglei districts are preparing to visit remote villages accessible only by boat and they are equipped with life jackets.
