Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon advanced to some more parts, covering major portion of the state so far, an IMD bulletin said on Monday.This was amid an overcast sky or light to moderate rain or thundershower continued at several places in the state. Day temperature too saw a fall and was hovering below 40 degrees Celsius all over the state.IMD again forecast that conditions would be favourable for future advance of monsoon to remaining parts of the state in two days. The day temperature would also likely witness a drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in next two days, the bulletin added.Sanjeev Dwivedi, a scientist of IMD centre in the city, said monsoon is expected to cover entire Odisha this week. He said monsoon did not touch only Nuapada, one of total 30 districts in the state so far. Besides, seven districts were covered partially and rest 22 districts were covered fully.Of partially covered districts, monsoon advanced most parts in districts – Kalahandi, Sonepur, Sundargarh, some parts of Nabarangpur and Jharsuguda and few parts of Balangir and Bargarh.On Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershower activity may continue at many places in the state. This would be with heavy rainfall warning issued for five districts – Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati.Besides, thunderstorm activity accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind warning would continue in several districts on Tuesday.On Monday, Titilagarh at 37.5°C recorded the day’s highest in the state. Similarly, Koraput recorded the highest (28.5 mm) rainfall in the state during the day, said the IMD rainfall report evening.So also the city recorded maximum 31.7°C and 1.5 mm rainfall by 5.30 pm, IMD rainfall report said.
