Mobile torch used to guide KKRTC bus driver due to poor condition of bus

Kalaburagi: Allegations have surfaced that the last KKRTC bus operating on the Kalaburagi-Chincholi route has been plagued by persistent technical issues for several months, causing hardship to passengers and forcing conductors to use mobile phone torches to help drivers navigate the road at night.A video of the incident has gone viral after it was reportedly recorded on the last bus service from Kalaburagi to Chincholi. The bus, which departs from the Kalaburagi bus stand at 7.30pm daily, covers a distance of around 84km. However, passengers have complained that night travel on the route has become hazardous due to recurring technical problems, particularly with the bus’s lighting system.Passengers expressed concern over instances in which conductors had to guide drivers using the flashlight on their mobile phones because the bus headlights were not functioning properly. Those who travelled on the bus on Saturday night alleged that they were forced to travel in near-darkness and demanded that a new bus be allotted to the route in the interest of passenger safety.Students, employees and hundreds of commuters from rural areas depend on this route daily and have been facing severe inconvenience due to the bus’s persistent technical faults.The public has urged KKRTC officials to deploy a new bus on the Chincholi route to ensure safe and reliable service. They also called for immediate repairs to existing buses, including the rectification of faulty lighting systems.
