Belagavi: The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC), Belagavi, solemnly commemorated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, paying homage to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War.The ceremony honoured the courage, dedication and selfless service of the armed forces, whose valour ensured India’s victory in one of the most challenging high-altitude conflicts in military history.Wreaths were laid by Brigadier Girish Upadhya, SM, VSM, Commandant, MLIRC; Subedar Major Sandeep Khot, Centre SM; and Agniveer Vivek Khedekar, symbolising the Regiment’s enduring legacy of valour.The occasion also highlighted the distinguished contribution of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment during the Kargil conflict.

Regiment soldiers displayed exemplary courage in battle, earning honours and etching the Regiment’s name in golden letters in the annals of military history.The ceremony was attended by officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), other ranks and Agniveers of the Regimental Centre.The event concluded with a pledge to carry forward the values of courage, patriotism and selfless service exemplified by the Kargil warriors, whose sacrifices continue to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike.
