Man shot in leg at tea stall in Bokaro

Bokaro: A 45-year-old man was allegedly shot in the leg by two bike-borne men at a roadside tea stall under Sector-1 City police station limits late on Sunday. The attack stemmed from an old rivalry linked to a land dispute, police suspected.An FIR was registered, but no arrest was made till late Monday.The injured, Jairam Prasad of Nadua in Chas, was sitting with friends at a roadside tea stall near Shri Ram Temple around 10 pm when the accused arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire, police said. A bullet struck his leg, sparking panic in the busy market area, before the assailants fled.Residents alerted police, after which City DSP Alok Ranjan and City police station officer -in -charge Sudama Kumar Das rushed to the spot. Prasad was shifted to Bokaro General Hospital in a PCR van. Doctors said he is out of danger and is undergoing treatment.Police identified the main accused as Bhuttu, a resident of Sector-1. Investigators said Prasad and his the accused knew each other and were allegedly linked to the land business, strengthening suspicion of a dispute-driven attack. “Law cannot be taken into one’s hands. Raids are underway and the accused will be arrested soon,” Ranjan said.Police are examining CCTV footage and questioning local residents as part of the investigation into the firing incident.
