A 35-year-old man in Ramanathapuram was arrested for sexually assaulting a mentally challenged woman at Devipattinam here on Friday.
Police said, T. Vijayakumar, 35, of Devipattinam, sexually assaulted a 19-year-old mentally challenged woman while she was alone at home.
When the victim’s mother returned, the accused had escaped from the house.
A case has been registered by the Devipattinam police and the man was arrested. Further investigation is under way.
