Berhampur: A 28-year-old man died in bomb blast after allegedly coming in contact with live bombs in the forest area near Mathura under Ganjam district’s Digapahandi police station limits on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as G.Raja of Naua Maulabhanja.He was grazing the pigs in the forest area when he got injured. He was taken to Digapahandi hospital and then referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. He died during treatment, police sources said.Police suspected some miscreants might have laid the explosive substances to poach wild animals, especially wild boar for its meat. Some others might have laid the bombs to protect their crops from wild animals, police sources said.Based on the complaints lodged by G.Krishna, the father of the deceased, a case was registered in Digapahandi police station, said IIC, Digapahandi police station, Kishore Kumar Samal.He said the body was handed over to family members of the deceased to perform his last rites and initiated inquiry into the incident. Forest officials said they were inquiring about the incident.Forest range officer Dibya Ranja Sahu said they were patrolling vulnerable areas to prevent illegal poaching of wild animals. Patrolling would be intensified in the area, he said. Two wild elephants died after coming in contact with live electric wires near Dhepaguda and Bhimanagar in Digapahandi forest range on Jan 2 and 30 respectively.
