What began as a routine food delivery turned into a life-changing moment for a Zomato delivery partner after a customer went out of his way to help him. The heartwarming story has gone viral on social media after the man revealed that he booked a flight ticket for the delivery agent so he could reach his ailing mother in time.
Taking to X, the man named Ankit Pandey recounted the incident, saying he had ordered food through Zomato when a delivery partner, who had delivered to his home several times before, arrived with the order. After handing over the food, he hesitantly asked, “Bhaiya, can I have a glass of water?”
The customer allegedly invited him inside and offered him water. While speaking to him, he noticed the delivery partner’s eyes were red, as though he had been crying. When asked what was wrong, he replied, “Kuchh achha nahi hai (Nothing is going well).”
He then revealed that his mother had slipped down the stairs earlier that morning and was admitted to the ICU in critical condition. The only train to his hometown was scheduled for 11 PM and would take nearly 30 hours to reach. “I don’t even know if I’ll be able to see her in time,” the delivery agent said.
After asking whether he had eaten anything that day, the customer offered him the same food he had delivered and then decided to book a flight for him. He booked a ticket costing around Rs 4,000 for himself. The delivery partner admitted he had never been to an airport before and was anxious about travelling by air for the first time. The man reassured him, saying his friend would help him.
Hours later, the delivery partner arrived home and met his mother. He later called the man to thank him and said that his mother was expected to recover within the next 24 hours. The man concluded his post, saying, “Sometimes, changing someone’s life doesn’t take millions of rupees. Sometimes it takes a glass of water, a meal, and a ticket home. Be kind. You never know when you might become someone’s miracle.”
The Delivery Agent Sent Him Back The Rs 4,000 But…
In an update, the man shared that the delivery partner had called to inform him about his mother’s condition and had even returned the Rs 4,000 he had spent on booking the flight. However, the man transferred the money back and asked him to use it for his mother’s treatment and other expenses.
Update on yesterday’s story…I wasn’t expecting this.
The Zomato delivery partner I booked a flight for yesterday called me this morning.
His first words were,
“Bhaiya… mummy ab danger se bahar hain. Doctor ne kaha 4–5 din mein ghar aa jayengi.”

Reflecting on the experience, the man wrote, “Sometimes, the greatest return on money isn’t getting it back. It’s knowing you helped someone be where they were needed the most. Some blessings never appear in your bank account. They stay in your heart forever.” It is worth noting that the veracity of the incident cannot be independently confirmed.
Internet Applauds His Kindness
The story has since gone viral, with several people praising the act of compassion and the man for helping out the delivery partner in time of need.
“You both are gems. Hats off to you. A small help in tough times goes a long way; we even can’t imagine it,” a user wrote,
Another person said, “What you have done is why humanity is still hope for all of us to thrive.”
