T’puram: Attingal police booked a man for allegedly posting abusive remarks on social media against MLA-elect O S Ambika following her victory in Attingal assembly constituency.Police said the remarks were posted under a social media message shared by Ambika thanking the voters. The comments allegedly contained abusive and objectionable content targeting Ambika.According to police, the remarks were made through a social media account named ‘Rajesh Kuduka’. During the preliminary probe, the account was traced to a native of Murukkumpuzha. Based on a complaint received in connection with the incident, police registered a case against the accused.Police said further probe is under way to examine the nature of comments and collect digital evidence. Police warned that strict action would be taken against those misusing the platforms to spread offensive or defamatory content.Habitual drug offender held: Kazhakkoottam police detained a 32-year-old man accused in multiple narcotics cases under PIT NDPS (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.The accused was identified as Dominic Peter of Kazhakkoottam. Police said he had been repeatedly involved in the sale and trafficking of narcotic substances and was facing several criminal cases linked to drug offences.Police said the detention order was issued to prevent the accused from continuing illegal narcotics activities. He has been remanded in preventive custody for one year till May 12, 2027.Youth held under Kaapa: Thampanoor police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man under Kaapa for allegedly being involved in repeated criminal activities and disturbing law and order in the city.The arrested accused was identified as Mithun alias Unni of Valiyasala.Police said the accused has been remanded under preventive detention and will be kept in custody for six months as per the provisions of the Act. The action was taken as part of the city police’s crackdown on habitual offenders and anti-social activities.According to police, Mithun is an accused in five assault cases registered at Thampanoor police station.
