Udupi: Karkala Town police have arrested a 60-year-old man who had allegedly been absconding for nearly 36 years in connection with a criminal case.The accused, Peter Augustine Martis, a resident of Ramasamudra in Karkala Kasaba village, was wanted in a long-pending case registered in 2004. He faced charges under Sections 143, 147, 148, 447, 448, 323 and 326, read with Section 149, of the IPC in a case registered in 1989.Acting on the directions of senior police officers, a team comprising Karkala Town police sub-inspector and head constables Lokesh and Sanjay arrested Martis near Ramasamudra. He was produced before a court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody.
