Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to celebrate this year’s Independence Day with the debut of multiple new models, including the BE 6 Sporteq and the production-ready Scorpio N pickup truck. The Mahindra Scorpio N based pickup concept, the Global Pik Up, was first unveiled at the brand’s annual Independence Day extravaganza in 2023. The concept was designed at Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), and built on a “next-generation ladder-frame” chassis.
Design Highlights
Spy shots suggest that the production-ready Scorpio N pickup truck will stay largely true to the original concept. It will feature the signature family headlamp design, LED lighting elements and newly-designed alloy wheels. However, the test mule has a single-cab configuration with an extended bed instead of the dual-cab layout seen on the concept.
Design elements such as a differently designed front grille and a bumper with a large tow hook will further differentiate the production model from the concept. At the back, the Scorpio N pickup truck concept features ‘Mahindra’ lettering on the tailgate, a sporty bumper with two tow hooks and taillamps with a pixel-like design.
While the official details are yet to be revealed, the pickup tuck is expected to sit on a 2,850mm long wheelbase, similar to the four-door Thar.
Expected Features
Mahindra revealed that the Global Pik Up will be equipped with several advanced features and technologies. It’s expected to offer semi-automatic parking, Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), 5G-based connectivity features, Trailer Sway Mitigation and a sunroof.
Expected Diesel Engine
The carmaker has also confirmed that the production-ready Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck will feature a Gen-II all-aluminium mHawk diesel engine, with both manual and automatic gearbox options. It could use the standard Scorpio N’s 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine, producing power worth 175bhp and up to 400Nm of torque. The pickup truck will come with a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system and shift-on-the-fly capability. It offers four drive modes – Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut and Sand.
