The “Mahalir Aayam” (Womens’ Front) of Thamizh Desiya Periyakkam has warned that it would mobilise women and stage demonstrations across Tamil Nadu if Karnataka government went ahead with its plan to construct a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, State president of the organisation Arana said that if the construction were to come up at Mekedatu, Tamil Nadu’s water resources would be hit and several areas would become prone to draught.
If Karnataka went ahead with dam construction, the “Mahalir Aayam” would organise demonstrations across Tamil Nadu condemning the move to construct the dam, she said.
