Gorakhpur: Family of a 27-year-old man, who went on pilgrimage to Baba Dham in Jharkhand, staged a road blockade on Saturday, alleging he was murdered.The deceased, identified as Bajrangi, resident of Mallah Tola in Bichhia Jungle Tulsiram area, left for Deoghar on Aug 3 with a group of residents. According to those accompanying him, he fell behind in the journey and subsequently went missing.His body was recovered on Aug 6 from a secluded spot in Kataria police station area in Bihar‘s Banka district, which borders Deoghar. The body reached Gorakhpur on Friday evening, triggering grief and anger among family members and residents of the area.On Saturday morning, relatives placed the body on the road near the Charphatak overbridge and blocked traffic for nearly an hour, demanding a thorough investigation. The family alleged that Bajrangi was murdered and his body was dumped at the spot. His wife, who is five months pregnant, joined the protest and demanded justice.Police officials persuaded the protesters to withdraw the blockade after assuring them of all possible assistance and a fair probe. Some of the men who had accompanied Bajrangi on the pilgrimage are reportedly unavailable, adding to the family’s suspicions.Gorakhnath police CO Ravi Kumar Singh said action would be taken based on the findings.
