Thiruvananthapuram: Home and vigilance minister Ramesh Chennithala said the govt aims to make Kerala corruption-free through the active participation of young people.While inaugurating the vigilance commando youth campaign by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau, Chennithala said citizens visiting govt offices should be able to get their matters resolved with dignity. He named actor Nivin Pauly the first commando.Chennithala said unnecessarily delaying files is also corruption, and govt employees and elected representatives must remember that they are public servants. “Files cleared through bribery would be re-examined and orders obtained illegally would be cancelled,” the minister said.The minister also said honest and capable officials would be appointed to the vigilance department through a special examination. “Officials who expose corruption among colleagues would be recognised as whistleblowers and rewarded,” he added.He urged public to speak against corruption. Chennithala distributed commando badges to school students, while Pauly led them in taking the youth integrity pledge.The campaign is part of the govt’s anti-corruption campaign, Project Zero.
