Nagpur: Madrasatul Muslemin’s MM Rabbani High School, Kamptee, defeated Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar, 4-2 on penalties to emerge champions in the Subroto Cup U-15 Nagpur divisional football tournament which concluded in Gondia.The tournament was organised by the department of sports and youth affairs, Nagpur Division.In the title clash, Rabbani, representing Nagpur Rural schools, and Bhavan’s from Nagpur City, scored a goal each at the end of regulation time. To break the tie, penalties were introduced and Rabbani’s Mohammad Areeb, Mohammad Fujail, Museb Jamal and Jainul Abedin converted their spot kicks while two players from Bhavan’s School were spot on, paving the way for the Kamptee school to clinch the divisional title. Earlier in regulation time, Aman Athar scored a goal in the second half to help Rabbani take the lead. In their last-minute effort, Bhavan’s brought parity by scoring an equaliser in a goalmouth melee to take the clash to penalties.For their title triumph, members of the school management including secretary Altaf-ur-Raheem, joint secretary Mohammad Irfan, principal Iftekhar Ahmed, Masoor Ahmed, Sajid Ahmed Khan and others congratulated all the players and their coach Akhtar Jamal.
