Jamshedpur: A railway employee and a businessman were attacked by unidentified assailants here in two separate incidents late on Tuesday.Junail Kerketta (44), a senior section engineer in the Carriage and Wagon department of Tatanagar railway division, was assaulted with a heavy object by six unidentified youths while he was carrying out a routine inspection of railway tracks.Kerketta spotted a group of youths inside the sick line area and questioned them about their presence. The assailants also robbed him of his phone and cash before fleeing. Kerketta was taken to Tatanagar Railway Hospital for treatment. “We have sought help of the police to identify the assailants,” Aditya Choudhary, senior divisional commercial manager of Chakradharpur railway division, said on Wednesday.In another incident, a sweet shop owner was shot at near Gamharia railway station underpass under Adityapur police station limits in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.Vishal Gorai was returning to his home in Kashidih at 10 pm when unidentified men, around 10 in number, allegedly opened fire at him. One bullet hit Gorai in his waist. Locals came to his rescue and admitted him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. “Preliminary investigation suggests that Gorai was attacked as a result of a personal rivalry. Probe is underway,” Anjani Kumar Singh, the officer-in charge of Adityapur police station, said.
