Amid continuous downpour in Jaipur, several commuters sought refuge under the roof of a bus stop on JLN Marg, waiting for it to stop. But instead of finding a safe place to wait out the rain, they were forced to vacate the space by police personnel as they were preparing for the movement of a VIP convoy. The incident has triggered widespread outrage.
In a video shared on X, Jaipur police were seen aggressively asking people to move away from the bus stand. Some commuters appeared reluctant to leave because it was the only available shelter in that area, but they were still forced out as officers continued to clear out the area to ensure an unobstructed route for a VIP convoy.
“Arrey piche hato (Go back),” one of the police personnel was heard yelling at the commuters, as they made their way out of the bus stop. Some left the place, while others went behind the bus stop. Seconds later, the VIP convoy crossed the area with police seen standing on the road amid rainfall.
“VIP Culture Needs To End”
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many slamming VIP culture in the country and questioning why ordinary citizens who were just taking shelter from the rain were removed like that for a VIP convoy. Others criticised the manner in which the commuters were treated, with some saying the police could have handled the situation more respectfully.
“VIP culture needs to end in India,” wrote a user while criticising the actions of Jaipur police.
“Logo ko virod karna chahiye tha VIP culture khatm karo bhai sab milke,” said another.
“VIP kya hota hai??? Kaun sa VIP Kam karte hai ye log??? Public ki koi respect nhi h????” asked an individual.

A different individual shared, “Human civilisation needs a total rehaul. Why are we making this abnormal thing normal? And the only way out of this abnormality is unity and people on the roads protesting against this stupidity.”
Someone else said, “This kind of thing probably happens in North Korea and Sub-Saharan Africa other than India.”
“The VIP convoy was passing by, so the police dispersed the public standing in the rain. @PoliceRajasthan @RajGovOfficial the public is the master, not the VIP. The uniform is for the public’s protection, not to clear the way for those in power,” remarked a person.
Meanwhile, another user commented, “What’s the police’s fault in this? They have to do their job. This is a VIP protocol. If they don’t remove it, they’ll lose their job.”
A person highlighted, “The funny part is people just took two to three steps inside the shed, and then the policeman went away.”
