Mangaluru: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) Kulai, Mangaluru, will celebrate its Annual Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra on Thursday.The sacred chariot procession is expected to attract thousands of devotees from Mangaluru, Udupi, and neighboring districts, and the procession will commence at 4 pm from Surathkal Junction, and proceed toward the Iskcon, Kulai temple. A chariot carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladeva, and Devi Subhadra will be accompanied by the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, and traditional musical ensembles.Following the procession’s arrival at the temple, the celebrations will continue with a grand Yakshagana performance from7 pm to 10 pm. Free vegetarian prasad will be served to all visitors.Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Iskcon Kulai, Mangaluru president Nama Nishtha Das highlighted the event as a celebration of divine compassion that transcends barriers of caste and creed. “Whether through value-based education, youth development, free food distribution, preservation of India’s cultural heritage or our upcoming Vedic college, our endeavour is to contribute towards building compassionate, responsible and spiritually enriched citizens,” Das added.
