As the world celebrates 12th International Yoga Day, actor and wellness advocate Shilpa Shetty reiterated the concept of fitness, inspiring more people to make yoga a part of their lifestyle.Highlighting the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga, the widely admired for her mindful living and physical fitness Shilpa Shetty said, “I want as many people as possible to adopt yoga. Not only as science and exercise, but as a lifestyle. I think I have made it. I just feel that one can understand the benefits of yoga once they start doing it. More than physical fitness, I give more importance to mental fitness. So yoga just keeps you so balanced and so focused. And you will feel very positive as well when you take up yoga,” to ANI.While addressing the significance of yoga practice, Shilpa Shetty focused on consistency and discipline as well. She said without these two, no one can achieve anything in life.According to her, if one is practicing yoga just for fashion, as it has become a trend setting thing, then they need to continue it with consistency. We need to make it a lifestyle, respecting the philosophy that lies within it.Shilpa Shetty on the occasion of Yoga Day visited an event in Gurugram where she conducted a special yoga session for the as part of the International Yoga Day celebration.The fitness enthusiast very prominently shares her Monday motivation reels where she reveals glimpses from her rigorous yoga sessions. Shilpa Shetty, at 51, has redefined yoga in the era of gym. She continues to inspire and motivate her fans through her disciplined workout routines.There are a number of yoga postures advocated by the “Dhadkan” actress.

Naukasana

In one of her Instagram posts, Shilpa Shetty was captured practicing Naukasana which she captioned as V sit for victory and highlighted its significance.Naukasana is a core-strengthening pose that tones the abdominal muscle, improves digestion and strengthens the spine.The posture is commonly practiced in Hatha Yoga and is also a part of the Padma Sadhana sequence, usually performing after the Dhanurasana.Deriving from the Sanskrit word, “nauka”, it highlights its boat pose, as nauka means boat. When it is performed correctly the body takes the shape of a boat.Shilpa Shetty in her caption drew all of the benefits including increasing focus on body awareness and resilience against injuries.

Vartulasana

In another video shared by Shilpa, she practiced a tough posture known as Vartulasana. It is a slightly advanced yoga pose that focuses on flexibility, balance and core strength.But the actor was seen moving smoothly while maintaining good control and stability.She underlined its benefits in the caption mentioning it stimulates thyroid gland, helping and improving metabolism. It strengthens the spine by increasing flexibility. The asana is also said to enhance digestion and promote better blood circulation.The posture had another major benefit lying in the upper body. It engages the shoulder blades and strengthens the upper back, making it an effective pose for improving posture and building stability.

Rajahamshana

The name Rajahamshana suggests the presence of a royal swan and it is present in the posture where one have to balance their body on one leg while the other leg is bent and lifted, with the torso leaning forward and the arms helping maintain the bind and balance.The name of the yoga symbolizes purity, wisdom and the soul’s journey towards liberation. Shilpa Shetty had performed it effortlessly and captioned its benefits as well.It improves balance and stability by requiring focus and control on one standing leg, enhances hip and hamstring flexibility, especially in the lifted leg, strengthens the core, legs, and ankles, which work continuously to maintain the posture.

Vakra Hanumanasana

In Sanskrit, the word Vakra means, “twisted” or “curved” and the name Hanumanasana follows the Hindu deity Hanuman.In another Monday motivation video, we saw Shilpa doing Vakra Hanumanasana. The posture seemed tough for beginners.This asana deeply stretches the hip flexors, quadriceps, hamstrings, and groin, improves spinal mobility through the twisting movement. Additionally it strengthens the legs, core, and lower back, Enhancing balance, posture, and coordination. The particular asana helps increase flexibility in the pelvis and lower body.

Parsva Bhuja Dandasana

The Parsva Bhuja dandasana is a very playful and intermediate arm balancing pose. It strengthens arms, shoulders and core and provides a releasing twist in your lower back.Shilpa Shetty was captured doing this asana as well. She moved her body in the perfect posture twice in reel that she shared on Instagram.The asanas, strengthens the arms, shoulders, wrists, and chest and builds core stability and abdominal strength. It is also said to improves balance, coordination, and body control.The Parsva Bhuja dandasana helps in enhancing concentration and mental focus. Additionally increases awareness of body alignment and weight distribution.
