A huge crowd of people were seen waiting outside a building, leaving passersby wondering what was happening. Turns out the queue was for a restaurant offering free food. The incident was captured by a man passing through the area in Bangalore where the restaurant was located, showing people standing in a long queue.
“Poverty Is At A Mental Level, Not A Financial One”
Sharing the video on Instagram, he reflected on “psychological poverty” of Indians rather than financial one. “Try to guess why such a long line is there,” he said. He expressed his surprise at seeing an unusually long line.
“I have only seen such a long line in temples in front of God. Today, I was very surprised to see that there is actually poverty in India. But that poverty is at a mental level, not a financial one.”
The clip was filmed during a restaurant’s three-day free food promotional event. The man further claimed that many people waiting in the queue appeared to have come from well-off families. “People from good families were in line with their parents, wives, husbands, children.
They have been in line for 2.5 to 3 hours. Because a new restaurant has been opened. There is an offer for 3 days: 29th June, 30th June and 1st July,” he said. “They are serving food for free.”
He shared that people lined up not for good food but for “free food.” In the caption of the post, he wrote, “India is a weird Country, where people are not poor financially but psychologically.”
“Is That A Crime?”
The video caught the attention of hundreds of people online, who reacted with surprise, shock, and sarcasm. Meanwhile, some also shared that there was no harm in availing such an offer.
“Kitne velle log hain hamare yahan. Free ke liye kuch bhi,” one person said.
“I am damn sure agar free ka hai to sab extra hi mangaynge aur waste hi karenge kyuki civic sense bhi to nhi hai,” quipped another person.
“No doubt most of them will be well educated. What a pity. Education has nothing to do with character. Parents teaching their children to follow the same,” someone else said.
Meanwhile, an individual asked, “So? Is that a crime?”
A user commented, “Babai Tiffins generally has this crowd even when it’s not free.”
A different individual mentioned, “This doesn’t happen only in our India; I have seen the same in Italy, Vietnam and other countries too for popular eateries.”
