BENGALURU: A provocative video posted on social media, in which a man challenged the Karnataka Police, particularly the Bengaluru City Police, to trace “25 Bangladeshis” he claimed to have sent to Bengaluru, has sparked concern.In the video, the man also claimed that the alleged Bangladeshis would target police personnel and politicians, threatening that they would barge into their homes and harm their wives and children.The Cyber Crime Police of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) swung into action, registered a case on Thursday and, by the evening, identified the accused as Santosh Kumar, a resident of Kikkeri in Krishnarajpet taluk of Mandya district.Kumar, who works as a hotel labourer in Dubai, deleted the video after the CCB police contacted him. He later uploaded another video apologising to the police.The original video was posted on Kumar’s Instagram account, santhuuu_kr_pete, on Thursday morning.In the video, Kumar said: “Karnataka Police, if you have got the guts, find them. I have sent 25 Bangladeshis to Bengaluru. You cannot catch them. All these days, none of you could trace them. Do you know why I sent them? I have targeted only policemen and politicians. They will barge into your houses and do what they want with your wives and children. They don’t have ID cards or addresses. I have made all the arrangements for them.“He went on to challenge the police, saying, “If you find them, then I will give you my address and you can do whatever you want.”The video quickly went viral on social media because of its provocative content, direct challenge to the police and references to politicians. His claims of sending around 25 Bangladeshi nationals to Bengaluru without identification documents triggered concern.Speaking to The Times of India, Bengaluru police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the CCB had registered a case in connection with the incident. He said the accused, who is currently working abroad, has been identified and efforts are underway to have him deported and arrested.

Singh also said Kumar and his family had been warned against using abusive and provocative language.In a subsequent video, Kumar apologised for his remarks.“I uploaded a video about Bangladeshis this morning. I spoke very badly about the police. I apologise to them. Please forgive me this time. I will not repeat such things in future. I was upset because many Bangladeshis are coming to Bengaluru and no action has been taken against them or to send them back to their country. That is why I spoke in the wrong way,” he said.The police commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb public peace, spread fear or create panic through such statements.Another senior police officer said the Kikkeri police have also registered a separate case against Kumar.
