Quick Highlights:

  • Hero could introduce the Xoom 160 Combat Edition

  • A more affordable VX variant is also likely to be introduced

  • New variants could make the maxi-scooter appealing to more buyers

Hero MotoCorp could soon expand the Xoom 160 lineup with more than one new variant. While recent updates suggest that a more affordable VX trim is in the works, there’s also a possibility that the brand could introduce the Combat Edition first, bringing a few premium upgrades to the adventure-styled maxi-scooter.

More Likely To Be The Combat Edition

Rather than introducing an affordable version, Hero may choose to launch the Xoom 160 Combat Edition. This variant is expected to receive feature updates such as a TFT instrument console, LED turn indicators, and a few other cosmetic and equipment upgrades. If launched, it would sit above the current model and offer a more premium experience without making major mechanical changes.

More Affordable VX Variant

Another possibility is the introduction of a more affordable VX variant. The Hero Xoom 160 is now listed with a ZX suffix on Hero’s official website. Since Hero uses the ZX badge for higher-spec versions of the Xoom 110 and Xoom 125, this hints that a lower-spec VX trim could soon join the lineup.

To achieve a lower price, the VX variant could miss out on features like the keyless ignition, smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. It may also replace the current model’s single-channel ABS with a more affordable combined braking system (CBS), along with a few other minor feature deletions.

Engine And Hardware Likely To Stay The Same

Both the expected variants should retain the same 156cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 14.6 PS and 14 Nm. The maxi-scooter should also continue with its 14-inch wheels, block-pattern tyres, telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorbers, 22-litre under-seat storage, and the 7-litre fuel tank.

Expected Pricing

The Hero Xoom 160 ZX is currently priced at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom). While the Combat Edition is expected to command a slight premium, the VX variant could be priced around Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 lower, giving buyers a more affordable entry point into Hero’s flagship maxi-scooter range.
