Davanagere: A headmaster of a govt higher primary school in Kokkanur village of Harihar taluk, Davanagere district allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday and died on Wednesday.Jayappa, 55, headmaster had attempted suicide after a quarrel with fellow teachers and kitchen staff on Tuesday. Sources said that he suddenly went to toilet and consumed poison. There were allegations of internal disputes between the co-teachers, kitchen staff, and the headmaster. In this context, the headmaster suddenly went to the school toilet and consumed poison.He was then admitted to the Chigateri district hospital in Davanagere by locals. Despite receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, he succumbed on Wednesday.Malebennur police sub-inspector Haroon Akhtar said that there was a quarrel between Jayappa and cooking staff. “Irked by the quarrel, he died by suicide. He was first admitted to the govt hospital in Malebennur and later he was shifted to Chigateri district hospital in Davanagere. We have registered a case and investigating it,” he said.Villagers said that a meeting was convened in the presence of SDMC members and some village elders on Monday. “Another meeting was convened in the presence of education department officials on Tuesday. During the meeting, he was disappointed and went to toilet and consumed poison,” the villagers added.
