Chandigarh: The Haryana govt on Monday approved 10 major industrial policies aimed at attracting investments worth Rs 5 lakh crore and creating nearly 10 lakh jobs over the next five years.The decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, which lasted for more than four hours and covered 26 agenda items. The new policies focus on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, data centres, agro-processing, gaming and green industries. The BJP govt is also expected to project these initiatives as part of the “Haryana model of governance” ahead of the upcoming Punjab assembly elections in early 2027. Addressing the media after the meeting, Saini said the policies were drafted in line with the BJP’s “sankalp patra” commitments and budget announcements for 2026-27. Large industries will receive net SGST reimbursement ranging between 30% and 70% for seven years, while mega and ultra mega projects will get benefits for up to 12 years. Capital subsidies ranging from 5% to 30% have also been proposed. In a push for high-technology manufacturing, the cabinet approved the Haryana Electronics System Design and Manufacturing Policy 2026. The state is developing a 500-acre electronics manufacturing cluster at IMT Sohna and aims to attract investments in semiconductors, electronic components and electronics production. Industries under this policy will be eligible for capital assistance of 20% to 30%, capped at Rs 200 crore per unit, along with operational assistance of up to Rs 20 crore annually. The cabinet also cleared the Haryana IT/ITeS, AI and Emerging Technologies Policy 2026, under which the govt plans to establish a Global Artificial Intelligence Centre in Gurugram and a Haryana advanced computing facility in Panchkula. The policy aims to promote artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity, cloud services and Internet of Things technologies. Officials said more than 50,000 professionals are expected to receive advanced technology training under the initiative, while three centres of excellence will also be established.
