Gujarat industrial policy: 360-degree approach to promote women, first-gen  entrepreneurs

Gandhinagar: The new industrial policy has adopted a 360-degree approach for incentivising women and first-generation entrepreneurs. The policy document said the aim is to create an enabling ecosystem that lowers entry barriers, strengthens entrepreneurial capabilities and supports women across the full enterprise lifecycle from ideation to scaling and market integration.Across manufacturing and service sectors, women entrepreneurs will receive an additional 1% interest subsidy. Specialised skill refresher courses will be run for women who return to industry after a break. In addition, an assistance of 75% of rent paid (up to Rs 3 lakh per annum) will be offered to women entrepreneurs for a period of five years.“There is special focus on incentives to women entrepreneurs, especially those who return to business after a sabbatical of four or five years,” said Mamta Verma, ACS, industries and mines department.The officer said that under the new industrial policy, a provision has been made for enhanced assistance to women-led startups. The policy document said that a sustenance allowance of Rs 30,000 per month will be provided to startups with women co-founders for a period of up to two years.
