Wardha: Milk collection resumed at Wardha’s famous Goras Bhandar following the high court’s order allowing the institution to restart production and sales. The milk collection process has begun at the main centre, with around 2,000 litres being procured daily. The management expects the volume to increase gradually in the coming days.Goras Bhandar approached the high court after action by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) led to the sealing of its premises in the first week of June. The court, on July 7, declared the FDA’s action illegal and directed that Goras Bhandar be permitted to resume production and sales.Goras Bhandar, operated by Go Sanvardhan Goras Bhandar, is a pre-independence institution in Wardha. Following the FDA action citing hygiene concerns, production and sales were halted, creating uncertainty among customers and dairy farmers. Closure triggered protests by dairy farmers and social organisations, who alleged that the action had affected milk producers. Demonstrations and marches were held, and milk was reportedly poured onto roads as part of the agitation. After the HC verdict, reopening was delayed due to repair work at the premises.
