GMCH launches portable med unit BHISHM Cube

Nagpur: Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, on Tuesday launched the BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita and Maitri) Cube, a portable, rapidly deployable emergency medical facility developed under Govt of India’s Project Aarogya Maitri, significantly strengthening the institution’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.Designed as a modular field hospital, the BHISHM Cube can be deployed rapidly during disasters, mass casualty incidents and humanitarian emergencies. Once operational, it can provide emergency medical care to nearly 200 victims, substantially enhancing the hospital’s surge capacity. The system is equipped with advanced trauma care infrastructure, including defibrillators, ultrasound equipment, anaesthesia and surgical stations. Compact and drone-transportable, the Cube is designed for quick deployment in challenging situations.India also deployed the BHISHM Cube under its humanitarian initiative Aarogya Maitri, including during Operation Amistad, which provided medical assistance to Venezuela following twin earthquakes.
