Gurgaon: Police launched a search operation after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from her village in Sohna by a youth known to her family.According to the girl’s mother, she left home around 12.30 pm on Monday to work as a daily-wage labourer. When she returned, she found her daughter missing and searched for her in the neighbourhood before approaching Sohna City police station.In her complaint, the woman alleged that Nahid, a resident of Raipur village, took her daughter away in a Thar. She told police that the youth had earlier been seen loitering near their house and had been warned by villagers.Police registered a case under relevant sections of law relating to the kidnapping of a minor and identified the suspect during the preliminary investigation. Investigators said the girl was allegedly taken away between 12.30 pm and 1 pm.More than 24 hours after the alleged abduction, the girl remained untraced, prompting police to intensify efforts to locate her. CCTV footage from the area is being examined and teams have been conducting raids at possible hideouts to trace the suspect and recover the girl.An officer said police were pursuing multiple leads and efforts were underway to locate the minor safely. Further investigation is in progress.
