A 22-year-old man bled to death outside a police Pink Booth in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after pleading for help for nearly 40 minutes, his family has claimed, while accusing the police of failing to provide timely medical assistance.

The incident took place on July 12 and the man has been identified as Rajkumar, originally from Bihar’s Siwan district.

According to his family, Rajkumar got into an argument with an auto-rickshaw driver over the fare. As the altercation escalated, he ran towards a nearby police Pink Booth seeking help.

The family claimed that the booth was closed, and Rajkumar repeatedly knocked on its glass gate in an attempt to attract the attention of police personnel inside.

During the process, the glass shattered, severely injuring his hands and causing heavy bleeding.

They further alleged that despite his injuries, Rajkumar remained at the spot for around 40 minutes without receiving timely medical assistance.

He was later shifted to a hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.

Several videos purportedly linked to the incident have gone viral on social media.

The clips appear to show the injured man lying on the road outside the Pink Booth with blood streaming from his hands while bystanders gather nearby.

The family has accused the police of negligence and demanded an enquiry, strict action against those responsible and accountability over the alleged delay in providing medical assistance.

Ghaziabad Police, however, have offered a different version of events.

In a statement, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kavinagar) Upasana Pandey said the auto driver and the victim were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

An argument broke out over a money transaction before they reached the Pink Booth.

She said that Rajkumar was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment.

DCP City Dhawal Jaiswal said a special team has been constituted to examine the sequence of events, including the police response, the time taken to provide medical assistance and the viral videos circulating on social media.
