Hubballi: Three members of a family sustained severe burn injuries after an LPG cylinder connected to a gas geyser reportedly leaked and triggered a fire at their residence in Annigeri town of Dharwad district early Saturday.The injured were identified as Sahirabanu Dharwad, 55, and her sons Abbas Ali Dharwad, 29, and Hasan Saab Dharwad, 26. All three were rushed to KMC-RI Hospital in Hubballi for treatment.According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 5am in Udayanagar locality when gas allegedly leaked from a cylinder connected to a geyser inside the house. “The fire broke out suddenly, leaving all three occupants with serious burn injuries. Several household items and belongings were completely gutted in the blaze,” they said.Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information and managed to bring the blaze under control. Their timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to neighbouring houses.Dharwad superintendent of police Gunjan Arya, tahsildar Manjunath Dasappanavar, Annigeri PSI Umadevi and TMC chief officer YG Gaddigoudar visited the site to assess the situation.SP Arya said Annigeri police have launched a preliminary investigation and suspect a gas leak caused the fire. Further inquiries are under way to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, he added.
