Noida: Three people were arrested, and two minors were taken into custody for allegedly stealing gold ornaments and valuables from locked houses in residential societies.Police said the gang comprising Tekram, Pawan Kumar, and Anil Bhati, all in their 30s, along with two minors aged 15 and 16, was active in the city for past few months, specifically targeting locked homes.In June alone, four theft cases were registered at Dadri and Beta 2 police stations. Bhuvan Kumar, a resident of Dadri, said he left for his village with his family on April 26. When he returned home on May 12, he found that all his valuables were missing.Similarly, Madan Gopal Sharma, who lives in Sector XU-1, went to Hathwas with his family on Jan 21. He came back on July 2, only to discover that thieves had broken into his house. He said they stole gold and silver jewellery, cash, and clothes.Ravi Shankar Nim, DCP of Greater Noida, said that after receiving several such cases, a team was formed to trace the accused, following which the gang was arrested on Sunday.Stolen jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs, an illegal firearm, two knives and a motorcycle used in the crime were also recovered from their possession.“During questioning, the accused revealed they first used to conduct recce of locked houses in societies. They also carried weapons in case they were caught.”A case under sections 305(A) (theft) and 331(4) (house trespassing) of the BNS was registered against them at Dadri and Beta-2 police stations, and further investigation is underway.
