NAINITAL: Eight-year-old street magician Sahil, whose sleight-of-hand performances in Nainital won widespread attention online, has taken a major step forward with his first live stage appearance alongside mentalist and illusionist Suhani Shah.Sahil, who comes from a family of traditional magicians and travels with them from place to place, performed his signature coin and ball illusions before a theatre audience, drawing enthusiastic applause. The appearance marked a striking transition for the young performer, who until recently had been showcasing his skills on the streets to earn a living with his family.His journey gained national attention after videos of his performances in Nainital surfaced on social media. Among those impressed was Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra, who shared one of the videos on X and appealed for help in locating Sahil and his parents.
“Is he still performing on the streets of Nainital? I would like to help him,” Mahindra wrote, while asking: “Why can’t this child become one of the world’s greatest magicians? Could someone help me reach out to his parents?”The appeal triggered an outpouring of support online, with netizens helping connect Mahindra’s team with the young magician’s family. Assistance from Mahindra is now expected to reach Sahil and his family.Sahil’s appearance with Suhani Shah has added another chapter to a journey that began on the streets of the hill town. Shah, who also began performing at a young age, shared the stage with the child as his talent received recognition beyond the informal performances that first brought him into the spotlight.
