Bengaluru: Four Metro stations, part of the soon-to-be-opened Pink Line, will have two-wheeler parking facilities. BMRCL has issued a request for proposal (RFP) ahead of awarding licences to operate these parking lots.According to the RFP document, the four stations to get the facility are Tavarekere, IIM-B, Hulimavu, and Kalena Agrahara. All these stations in south Bengaluru are part of the 7.5km elevated stretch of Pink Line.Together, these stations can accommodate 575 two-wheelers. The three bigger-capacity stations will accommodate 155 vehicles each, while Kalena Agrahara can handle 110. To operate the parking lots for a year, BMRCL will charge the licensee Rs 10 lakh for a single station. Only companies with a positive net worth of above Rs 12 lakh can operate them.Users will be charged Rs 15 to park for the first four hours and Rs 5 for every additional hour after that. Parking a two-wheeler for an entire day will cost commuters Rs 30, with cyclists enjoying free parking.BMRCL confirmed that in due course of time, all elevated stations on Pink Line will have parking facilities. The lack of such facilities at several Purple and Green Line stations has been a constant grievance of commuters.After multiple deadline shifts, the elevated 7.5km stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is slated to be opened by next month. Commuters might have to wait at least till the year-end to access the remaining underground stretch till Nagawara.
