Patna: A fire safety department team on Saturday carried out a second inspection of Khan Global Studies in Kadamkuan to assess compliance with fire safety norms. The audit, led by Lodipur fire sub-divisional officer Indrajit Kumar, reviewed progress since the June 7 inspection, which had flagged multiple deficiencies and asked the management to fix them within 7–10 days.Nearly two weeks later, officials found several key lapses still unaddressed. While some corrective steps have been taken, the institute is yet to meet required safety standards, Indrajit said.Among major concerns, the proposed second fire escape staircase has not been built. The automatic sprinkler and fire detection systems remain inadequate, and the pump house arrangement is still incomplete. Officials said the existing measures are insufficient for a building with high daily student footfall. The June 7 audit had highlighted serious gaps, including the absence of a proper firefighting system, inadequate water storage for emergencies, and lack of a fire pump of required capacity. Deficiencies were also noted in the downcomer system, emergency exit signage, fire alarm network and electrical safety. The institute was also found to have fewer fire extinguishers than mandated. Issues related to setback provisions and other structural fire safety norms had also been flagged.Following the latest inspection, officials have given the management another 10 days to rectify all shortcomings. They warned that failure to comply will invite action under fire safety rules.
