Film producer K. Rajan drowns in Adyar river in Chennai

Film producer K. Rajan drowned after he fell into the Adyar in Chennai on Sunday. The police said the 85-year-old was estranged from his family and had been staying at a private hotel.

When he was returning to the hotel by car, he asked the driver to stop the vehicle on a bridge and jumped into the river. After being alerted, the Adyar police, with assistance from the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services personnel, recovered the body and sent it to the Government Royapettah Hospital for a post-mortem. The police have filed a case and are investigating.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami condoled the death of Mr. Rajan and recalled the film producer was vocal about small budget films getting due recognition.
