Varanasi: Reviewing the progress of projects being carried out by the public works department, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that works should be carried out on a war-footing and completed in time with quality conforming to standards.The CM directed officials that special attention should be given to completing projects which should be finished before the rainy season.The CM also conducted a detailed review of projects related to new works to be carried out by PWD in the division.Officials informed the CM that 2,630 projects worth Rs 7,175 crore were underway in the Varanasi region out of which 687 works had been completed and work on 542 projects had been completed 90%.At least 421 projects worth Rs 3,223 crore were on in Varanasi district.The CM also sought information on the progress of the PWD works of the previous year and said that the work plan for the current financial year 2026-27 be made available immediately.“While preparing work plan, funds should be sanctioned and tender process be carried out simultaneously. There should be no waiting. The commissioner and the district magistrate should hold meetings and review at their respective levels to bring speed to the works, so that progress in construction works can be ensured at all costs,” he said.Yogi said that those roads which were to be repaired should first be surveyed. “The municipal corporation should ensure repair of roads in urban areas. The proposals of public representatives must be included. Work should be started only after arranging all necessary resources, so that work is completed on time at all costs and the public is benefited,” the CM said.The CM sought information on the progress of the works of the integrated court complex to be built in Chandauli. PWD engineers said that 18% of the work has been completed.Principal secretary, PWD, Ajay Chauhan gave detailed information on the works in Varanasi region.
