An employee has claimed that his company has started removing workers while blaming artificial intelligence for the decision. Sharing his experience on Reddit, he said senior employees are being targeted first and that one or two people are allegedly being asked to leave every day.

The post has sparked discussion online, with many users advising him not to resign under pressure and to make sure every conversation with HR is documented.

Employee Shares Layoff Concerns

The Reddit user posted under the title, “Going to be laid off soon. Need advice.” In the post, he claimed that the company had suddenly begun reducing its workforce without warning.

“My company is firing a bunch of employees in the name of AI and has strategically started letting go of the senior people in the team first. Every day, they’re choosing 1-2 people to fire. There was absolutely no prior communication before they made this decision,” he wrote.

According to the employee, the first warning sign came last month when salaries were delayed. He further alleged that instead of officially terminating employees, the company has started asking them to resign. The employee said HR informed workers that their notice period would begin only after they submitted their resignation.

However, he claimed that some senior employees, who were expected to serve notice until August, have now been told not to come to work after July 15. “This makes me feel that the same thing will eventually happen to everyone: they won’t pay us anymore and won’t even let us complete our notice period,” he wrote.

The employee added that he has been looking for another job for the past month but has not received any interview calls. While he has savings that can cover his expenses for three to four months, he is worried about what will happen if he cannot find work before then. He also claimed that employees working remotely are being asked to either relocate to another state and work from the office or resign.

According to him, moving would put extra financial pressure on him. He ended the post by asking for advice on how to speak with HR and whether there was any way to negotiate a severance package or delay submitting his resignation.

Reddit Users Offer Advice

The post drew several responses from Reddit users, many urging him not to take any rushed decisions. A user wrote, “I’d say commit to relocating. Ask for a month, but if they are adamant about not giving you that much time, try to find a PG as temporary accommodation. Meanwhile, keep looking for a new job.”

Another commented, “Never resign under pressure. Ask HR to give everything in writing, including the relocation requirement, notice period terms and last working day.”

A person advised, “Do not verbally agree to anything without an email trail. If they want you to relocate, ask them to share the official policy, relocation assistance and deadline in writing.” Another added, “Buying time is important, but also keep applying aggressively.”
