Hyderabad: Telangana is set to publish its draft electoral rolls on Monday after completion of the special intensive revision (SIR), with 73.3 lakh electors proposed to be left out of the draft rolls and another 93.7 lakh voters facing notices over anomalies or failure to establish linkage with the 2002 electoral rolls.Chief electoral officer (CEO), Telangana, C Sudarshan Reddy told TOI that the draft rolls would first be shared with political parties at a meeting on Monday. A press conference would be held subsequently and the rolls would also be made available online for electors to check their status.Along with the draft rolls, election authorities would publish a separate list containing 73.3 lakh electors classified as uncollectible and proposed for deletion. Electors whose names do not figure in the draft roll would have an opportunity to file claims seeking inclusion.Claims, objections open after draft publicationThe publication of the draft roll would open the claims and objections period from Aug 17 to Sept 16, during which electors could seek inclusion or correction of entries and raise objections.The SIR began with about 3.38 crore electors in Telangana. During the enumeration exercise, around 73.3 lakh entries were classified as uncollectible, covering cases identified during field verification for possible exclusion from the rolls.The draft roll, however, would not mark the end of scrutiny for those whose names remain on it.61.4 lakh anomaly cases, 32.3 lakh unmappedElection authorities have identified about 61.4 lakh anomaly cases during the revision. Another 32.3 lakh electors remain “unmapped”, meaning their present electoral entries could not be linked to the 2002 base rolls.Together, the two categories account for about 93.7 lakh electors who are expected to receive notices after the publication of the draft rolls. They would have to undergo verification and establish their eligibility or resolve discrepancies in their electoral records.Election Commission had carried out SIR to reverify electoral entries, including cases relating to electors found absent, shifted, dead or duplicate, while also providing a claims and objections process before the electoral rolls are finalised.
