District administration plans SVEEP drive to boost voter turnout in Bankipur

Patna: The district administration will launch an intensive voter awareness campaign ahead of Bankipur assembly byelection to boost voter turnout under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by deputy development commissioner and senior SVEEP officer Shubham Kumar on Tuesday. Officials decided to undertake a series of awareness activities across the constituency to encourage eligible voters to exercise their franchise.As part of the campaign, voter awareness banners and posters will be installed at prominent locations. The administration will also organise voter awareness rallies, outreach programmes for college students and community groups; roll out awareness ‘raths’; hold voter pledge drives and rangoli competitions. Booth-level officers will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute voter information slips and motivate electors to cast their votes.Chairing the meeting, Kumar said higher voter participation was essential for strengthening democracy and he directed officials to carry out the campaign at all levels to maximise voter turnout in the bypoll.The meeting was attended by the district programme officer, deputy election officer, district public relations officer, director of the district rural development agency and other officials involved in the election preparations.
