Amid growing concerns over women’s safety in public places in the country, another disturbing incident has surfaced online, which has once again ignited the debate over whether women are truly safe anywhere. In a viral video, a man claimed that his co-passenger secretly took a picture of a woman seated in front of him on a train and later altered it using artificial intelligence.
The incident allegedly took place on board the Pune to Kolhapur Special Express travelling from Miraj to Pune. The woman, who was reportedly seated in the general coach, was allegedly photographed without her knowledge by a fellow passenger.
Another man travelling in the same coach claimed that while he was sitting on his upper berth, he noticed that the man in the lower berth secretly clicked a picture of a Muslim lady wearing a burqa. He accused him of using ChatGPT to attempt to create fake obscene images of the woman by “removing her clothes.”
The passenger, who recorded the incident, said that while he did not confront the man directly, he immediately filed a complaint with the police. After a while, railway police arrived and snatched the phone of the accused, who was busy watching something.
They then opened ChatGPT to investigate whether he had actually generated such an obscene image of the woman and found it in one of the chats. Police confronted him, with the passenger urging the authorities to take him away because he seemed drunk. He said that he might harm other passengers or himself for complaining.
“Classless Behaviour”
The incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing the ire of people, many of whom expressed concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence to target women. Several users also called for strict action against the accused and stronger safeguards against AI-enabled image abuse.

“Disgusting, classless behaviour,” said a user.
Another wrote, “Good catch by the bystander. Tech amplifies harm but also enables accountability. Always keep your phone ready to document, not just scroll.”
“This is absolute nightmare fuel. Huge respect to the guy who recorded it and alerted the railway police instead of staying silent. AI tech in the hands of creeps is getting terrifying; these people need severe jail time!” an individual remarked.
Someone else said, “Creeps with AI tools are a whole new level of dangerous. Kudos to the passenger who caught him and informed the police immediately!”
