NEW DELHI: A man died by alleged suicide after self-immolation in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Monday. The man had allegedly set himself on fire outside his wife’s residence following an altercation amid an ongoing matrimonial dispute.According to police, a PCR call regarding a fire incident was received at Mahendra Park police station Jahangirpuri. Police rushed to the spot and found the man in a severely burnt condition.He was shifted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment, police said.During inquiry, police found that the man and his wife had been involved in a matrimonial dispute and a complaint had earlier been lodged at the Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell.Police said that following an argument on the day of the incident, he allegedly threatened to die by suicide before setting himself ablaze outside his wife’s house.Police said further inquiry is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
