Nagpur: Trustees of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti (DBASS), Deekshabhoomi, on Tuesday unanimously elected Vilas Gajghate as new president. Gajghate replaces Bhante Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai as the president of the smarak samiti.The governing body meeting of the samiti was convened pursuant to orders issued by the deputy charity commissioner. As committee president Bhante Sasai was absent, the trustees present unanimously elected Dr Pradeep Aglawe to chair the meeting.According to a statement, trustees reviewed various administrative, legal, and statutory matters concerning the samiti and discussed the recent order issued by deputy charity commissioner. The meeting also took note of a petition filed by Bhante Sasai before the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court challenging the deputy charity commissioner’s order. Members present discussed issues concerning functioning of committee and also deliberated on a case filed by 8 committee members under Section 41-D before deputy charity commissioner, Nagpur. Following discussions, a resolution seeking removal of Bhante Sasai was moved and unanimously approved. TNN
