Kolkata: Crude bombs were hurled at former TMC MLA Nirmal Ghosh’s house early on Sunday, hours after his son Tirthankar Ghosh was paraded by police through parts of Sodepur-Panihati.Police said masked assailants arrived on motorcycles around 1.30am, lobbed bombs at the Railway Park house and fled. While two bombs – one hurled at the gate and the other at the boundary wall – exploded, a third was later recovered from the spot.Days earlier, eggs were thrown at Tirthankar while he was being taken to Barrackpore court after he was arrested for allegedly inciting post-poll violence after the 2021 assembly elections and involvement in a robbery.Tirthankar’s wife Dipanwita said the family was shaken and frightened, especially with two young children in the house.Cops have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the assailants.
